Testosterone in Men
Testosterone is an essential hormone produced by both men and women that plays a crucial role in the health and well being of our bodies.
Many myths and misunderstandings exist as to the activity and effects that hormones, including testosterone, exert on humans.
Testosterone supplementation was for many years considered a taboo area of medicine especially in women, but focus has shifted in recent years and the benefits to patients have become apparent with controlled scientific research.
Testosterone in Women
Women provide a far more complex sex-hormonal picture than men, with three hormones contributing to the overall makeup of their hormonal balance.
Women produce estrogens, progesterone and testosterone. The ovaries produce the bulk of the estrogens during the years leading up to the menopause and substantially less post-menopause. During the menstrual years, progesterone is produced once ovulation has taken place. Progesterone ceases to be produced when ovulation stops at, and even before, the menopause.
In the last decade there has been increasing interest in administering low doses of testosterone to pre and postmenopausal women, particularly to help with loss of libido. The use of testosterone to manage low libido in women has extensively been reviewed in medical literature for decades.
Both booklets are FREE to download.
